| Symantec releases latest data storage tool |
|
The security software giant Symantec has unveiled the latest version of its data protection product aimed at businesses.
Veritas NetBackup 6.5 offers continuous data protection, data deduplication, snapshots, replication and more.
Symantec claims that the product is the only platform available that can bring together all "next-generation data protection offerings".
The new version of the product also features enhanced disk management capabilities.
Matt Kixmoeller, senior director, product management at Symantec, said: "NetBackup 6.5 puts disk right at the heart of NetBackup.
"By providing a platform that can manage all of today's innovative data protection technologies, NetBackup 6.5 allows customers to continue to leverage tape."
The new version of Veritas NetBackup 6.5 also offers increased flexibility to users, added Mr Kixmoeller.
Recovery and backup times are substantially less, using the new version of the tool, because it has a lightweight SAN client driving backup and recovery jobs, Symantec claims.
Symantec is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
